Cardiovascular Disease: Heart and blood vessel disease,
cardiovascular disease, includes numerous problems, many of
which are related to a process called atherosclerosis.
Atherosclerosis is a condition that develops when a
substance called plaque builds up in the walls of the
arteries. This buildup narrows the arteries, making it
harder for blood to flow through. If a blood clot forms, it
can stop the blood flow. This can cause a heart attack or
stroke. |

Arthritis: Is a joint disorder
featuring inflammation. A joint is an area of the body where
two different bones meet. A joint functions to move the body
parts connected by its bones. Arthritis literally means
inflammation of one or more joints.
Diabetes: Is a disorder of
metabolism, the way our bodies use digested food for growth
and energy. Most of the food we eat is broken down into
glucose, the form of sugar in the blood. Glucose is the main
source of fuel for the body. |

Depression: Is a type of mental
disorder that affects a person’s mood. It can affect your
thoughts, feelings, behavior, and overall health. Normal
feelings fall along a continuum from mild to intense, and
the same is true of depression. It’s normal to respond to
losses in ones life with sadness and gloom. But when these
feelings block a person from performing their everyday
activities or are out of line with the reality of a person’s
life, they are considered symptoms of a depressive disorder. |

Cancer: The organs and tissues of the
body are made up of tiny building blocks called cells.
Cancer is a disease of these cells.
Cells in different parts of the body may look and work
differently but most reproduce themselves in the same way.
Cells are constantly becoming old and dying, and new cells
are produced to replace them. Normally, cells divide in an
orderly and controlled manner. If for some reason the
process gets out of control, the cells carry on dividing,
developing into a lump which is called a tumor. |
